Brainstorm Electronics DXD16/AVB Firmware option for the DXD-16, adds AVB support

The DXD-16 offers versatile functionality as a PTP device, capable of operating as a PTP Grandmaster, slave, or Boundary Clock. In the realm of network synchronization, the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) has gained widespread acceptance as the standard. Consequently, the DXD-16 is compatible with various systems and supports multiple PTP profiles, including AES67, SMPTE 2059, and gPTP.

When functioning as a Boundary Clock, the DXD-16 can synchronize its internal clocks with an external Grandmaster located on one of its connected networks. Subsequently, it distributes the time obtained from the Grandmaster across the remaining connected networks in its role as a PTP master. Alternatively, the DXD-16 can itself serve as the Grandmaster, assuming the PTP master role on all connected networks.

The DXD-16 boasts four Gigabit Ethernet ports (RJ45), which can be utilized individually or as primary and secondary pairs. Each network connector enables an electrically and logically independent network, with the DXD-16 serving as a PTP timing bridge. It's important to note that the DXD-16 does not function as a network switch. To prioritize security, no information is transmitted between any network ports.
