The Celeste instrument pack from Pianoteq consists of four physically modeled instruments. A Celesta, Glockenspiel, Toy Piano, and a Kalimba, or Mbria.

The Celesta resembles an upright piano and is modeled after a five-octave German instrument that emits a soft, subtle timbre when its metal plates are struck by felt hammers.

The Glockenspiel is modeled from a modern French instrument that covers four octaves and produces a much higher and brighter, metallic timbre than the Celesta due to its characteristic metal plates being struck by hard metal mallets.

The sound of the Toy Piano is generated by small hammers striking metal rods. This results in a unique timbre somewhere between the Celesta and Glockenspiel. This unusual sound has been somewhat of a key appeal to many composers and performers through the centuries, who used the toy piano as a real musical instrument. The Pianoteq virtual copy is modeled after a two-octave Michelsonne toy piano and is extended to four octaves.

The small handheld Kalimba, also known as a Mbria or Finger Piano, is an African instrument made of a solid wood board with attached metal tines of various lengths that are plucked. The overtones added by the adjacent tines die out quickly leaving an almost pure tone.
