DPA APE50RS 4006A Acoustic Pressure Equalizer, 50 mm Ball

If you're looking to customize the sound of your DPA 4006A by adding some low end or you need to tame some unruly reverb, you'll want to reach for the 50mm DPA 4006A Acoustic Pressure Equalizer Ball (APE).

APE's function as passive processors using surface diffractions of sound waves near the microphone element to alter the frequency and reverberant response of omnidirectional microphones. The APE50RS increases the level of low frequencies from in front of the 4006 and applies a sharp reduction in high-frequency capture (above 1kHz) to sounds originating from the back and sides. You will also notice a reduction in the reverberant sound the 4006 picks up when using the APE50RS.

These alterations result in recordings with more clarity, presence, and directionality. Another effect you'll notice is that the 50mm APE will extend the effective range of your microphone.
