Yamaha's DTX8K-M is a 5-piece electronic drum kit with mesh pads that gives you the convenience of electronic drums with a nod to the look and feel of a traditional kit. The DTX8K-M's mesh pads are outfitted with two-ply Remo heads that can be tuned to give you the response you prefer. Yamaha's pad technology delivers eminently playable, durable, and responsive drums while still keeping kit noise to a minimum. You can layer up to four sounds per pad with two stacked effects to create custom configurations delivered with studio-quality sound.
The XP125 snare drum has a 3-zone sensor that responds naturally to varied stick work, allowing all of your dynamics to shine through. Different sounds can also be assigned to the various zones, offering the flexibility to feed your creativity. The DTX8K-M features real birch shells adorned with standard acoustic kit badges, lugs, and hoops for an authentic look that will stand out on stage. Plus, your DTX8K-M ships with Yamaha's RS8 rack system and necessary hardware.
The included cymbal pads are engineered with 3-zone sensitivity, allowing you to play the bell, bow, and edge just like a standard cymbal, plus they offer choke capability.
The DTX-Pro module features 200 user kits and over 700 new voices using real sounds and sampled room ambiance recorded in world-renowned studios. And with the included KIT MODIFER, you can dial up a wide range of Yamaha voices with the twist of a knob. Using the AMBIANCE, COMPRESSION, and EFFECT knobs you can conjure up sounds from natural acoustic to unique and edgy. Go ahead, express yourself.
A programmable metronome, recorder function, ten training functions, and 37 training songs can help you further develop your skills by spending some quality time woodshedding.
If you love to play, you'll love the DTX8K-M.
The DTX8K-M does not include a kick pedal. The pictured pedal is for illustrative purposes only.

After owning two Roland kits, this is my first Yamaha. I chose the DTX8K-M because of the larger pads/cymbals, Birch shells, and the inclusion of snare and hi-hat hardware. I have never played TCS heads, so I stuck with familiar mesh. My only complaint is the absence of Bluetooth connectivity, but I was aware of this going into the purchase. Not a huge deal since 3.5mm is still available, but it's one spec that Roland does offer over Yamaha. The DTX-Pro's built-in effects are a great feature.
