Henry Engineering BACKUPS Failsafe UPS Power Switcher

The BackUPS Failsafe UPS Power Switcher from Henry Engineering is a power controller designed to ensure reliable AC power for critical equipment using an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). It continuously monitors the UPS output and automatically bypasses the UPS if its output fails or becomes unstable.

BackUPS has two AC inputs: LINE, which connects directly to a local AC socket, and UPS, which connects to the UPS output. If an interruption in UPS output is detected, BackUPS switches to LINE, maintaining power to the load and allowing the UPS to be disconnected for maintenance.

The unit includes a Delay timer to ensure UPS output stability before switching online. The Delay timer is adjustable from 10 seconds to 16 minutes, and a Fast Response Mode can detect interruptions as short as 10 milliseconds. The Delay timer can be disabled if unnecessary.

Once installed, BackUPS operates automatically. A mode switch allows for manual UPS bypass or automatic operation with or without the Delay feature. It supports remote monitoring and control, providing a DC output signal to indicate when the UPS is online. The Remote Bypass Input enables bypassing the UPS via GPI control input, and BackUPS can function as a "remote reboot" device by cycling power to reset equipment.

BackUPS can supply up to 15 amps of AC current and is housed in a durable plastic enclosure with integral mounting flanges. It includes standard AC input cords with IEC connectors and a mating remote connector.
