Also called Velocity Microphone. A microphone technology that incorporates an extremely thin rectangular aluminum or aluminized membrane in a strong magnetic field. It's natural polar pattern is figure-8. See Figure-8., Cloud Microphones' 44-A is handcrafted to the specifications as set by RCA's Harry F. Olson back in the 1930s, though it has its share of 21st century improvements, such as Cloud's "ultra-clean" Cloudlifter circuitry.
