Definition for MOSFET

MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor): Based on Field Effect Transistor technology, with a silicon oxide layer between the gate and channel connections. MOSFETs are capable of handling considerable amounts of power, and are often used in power supplies and amplifiers. See: FET.
