40 years ago Yamaha defined near field monitors with the release of the NS10. Blessed with a flat uncolored frequency response, they produced a sonic truth that mixed a million albums. In combining that legacy with signature innovation, Yamaha created the HS series of reference monitors to define the next 40 years.
The HS5 is a 5" 2-way bass-reflex near field reference monitor with a high performance 70W onboard amplifier. This design makes set up placement and portability concerns a thing of the past. Since it takes more power to produce accurate bass, the HS5 was designed with a bi-amp system that directs more power to the low-frequency driver. You'll notice the benefits in lower distortion, more accurate bass and midrange, and less chance of speaker damage. Don't worry, you won't miss any of Yamaha's signature high end, the HS5s will simply sound more natural than any monitors in their class.
All rooms are not created equal. To compensate for differences in geometry and surface material, the HS5 can in effect be tuned to the room. A room control feature combats exaggerated bass response that occurs when speakers are placed close to a wall or near a corner. While high TRIM can help tame high frequencies in a room with too many hard surfaces. These features create consistency across your rooms as you move from tracking to mixing to mastering so you can deliver the product you intend to.
If you want to hear what's really there, you want the HS5.
