The AMP1-DA/106 from Wohler provides self-powered, full-fidelity stereo audio monitoring of 2 channels from analog as well as AES/EBU Digital sources, plus ultra-high resolution LEDs with 106 segments, all in the smallest rack space possible. It includes 4 integrated high-performance transducers driven by 3 power amplifiers, with one amplifier/driver combination handling midrange and high frequency information in stereo, while the second handles summed low-frequency information below the 500 Hz crossover point.
In an ultra near field (1 to 3ft) working environment, its unique design provides optimally focused sound for operators and offers performance comparable to that of many separate monitor pairs, yet minimizing installation hassles, awkward speaker placements, and "added-on" look. For the operator, this allows for a higher SPL, while reducing overall ambient sound and adjacent bay crosstalk.
It comes with a choice of BBC, DIN, Nordic, and VU scales, with PPM Only level meters.
Extended HF response uncovers potential audio, hiss, or whine problems. Electronic—as opposed to acoustic—cancellation of bass frequencies provides positive audible detection of reversed polarity (out-of-phase) audio feeds. A headphone jack which automatically mutes the speakers when in use is provided on the front panel.
An integrated output limiter circuit protects the speakers, and extensive magnetic shielding gives the option of physical placement immediately adjacent to video monitors with no color impurities.
The unique tri-color LED design means that an almost unlimited variety of options such as phase correlation, peak hold, and alternate scales can be offered. The standard display mode is set as a single segment PPM "dot" above a VU bar, with each segment's color being fixed according to its scale position. DIP switches provide level calibration settings to select one of 4 different calibration levels.
You'll find the AMP1-DA/106 ideally suited for use in VTR bays, mobile production vehicles, teleconferencing installations, multimedia systems, satellite link and cable TV facilities, as well as on-air radio studios.
