Product Overview

Tailor-made for the violin or viola, and built from the ground up to offer smooth frequency response, low noise, and a precise polar pattern, Countryman's I2 Violin and Viola Microphone features deep nulls along with natural on- and off-axis response. Thanks to its tiny size, it's ideal for distance miking that is virtually invisible on camera. Versatile close-miking techniques are boosted using the included Violin and Viola Mount which securely sits behind the instrument's bridge. Also available in an Omnidirectional configuration (sold separately).

Includes

  • I2 Microphone with hardwired XLR connector
  • I2 Violin Mount
  • Windscreen
  • Carrying Case

Features

  • Unparalleled Precision
    • The I2 maintains superb pattern control as well as frequency response at all angles, enabling uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.
  • Complete Control
    • The positioning arm allows for a range of microphone positions, including positioning under the bridge or over the F-hole. Ensure that the silver (active) side is directed toward the body.
  • Vibration Damping
    • Designed to minimize vibration noise, the I2 Violin/Viola Microphone mount includes the incorporation of viscoelastic damping materials to reduce transmitted shocks and key noise to deliver clear audio recordings.

First class mic. The clip on flexible stalk type was too much in the way for me. This one has perfect sound, the mini xlr works with my belt pack wireless setup.(shure) and as a bonus for fiddle players that can sing, it will pickup my voice when I have the viola in playing position! It would be nice to be able to specify the length of the cable as it is too long to plug into the belt pac. Minor problem.

Very pleased. Great sound. A little less open sounding than the DPA IMK 4060 omni kit, but at a quarter of the price. And much more robust construction than the solutions with tiny proprietary connectors (DPA & Rodes). If you're going into a wireless belt pack and have the money, you might want those, but If you want a robust mic with an XLR connector, this is the way to go. For this viol i mounted the mic above the strings, then had to use the included windscreen to control breath sounds. Nice.
