Nikon's AF-S FISHEYE NIKKOR 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED lens is the first NIKKOR fisheye lens with zoom capability—and the first NIKKOR zoom to capture epic 180° circular images. It offers a new level of versatility and sharpness in extreme wide-angle lenses, freeing you to choose the right fisheye perspective for the shot. It enables you to create frame-filling images from as close as 0.5 feet from your subject, or pursue your passion into challenging, heavily backlit, even wet and dirty situations. Not only can you shoot traditional full-frame fisheye images, but now you're able to zoom out to create fascinating 180° circular images -and- you can get extremely close to your subject—as close as 0.5 feet with a 0.34x reproduction ratio—for close-up fisheye shots.

This lens is a workhorse. Its front and rear elements feature Nikon's protective Fluorine coat, letting grime and liquid roll right off the lens. The lens barrel is moisture- and dust-resistant, which enables shooting in challenging conditions.

Features

• A-M - Auto-Manual Mode. Thanks to an onboard mechanism built into the lens barrel, smooth-focusing operation in Manual focus mode is realized in just the same way users are accustomed to when using conventional manual-focus lenses and applying the appropriate torque to the focus ring
• Aspherical Lens - A lens featuring a curved, non-spherical surface. It's used to reduce aberrations and enable incorporation of a more compact lens size. Coma and other types of lens aberrations are minimized, even when used at the lens' widest aperture. This feature is particularly useful in correcting wide-angle lenses distortion and also helping contribute to a lighter, more compact design by lowering the number of required standard (spherical) elements. These distortions are corrected due to the continuous changing of the refractive index from the center of the lens
• Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism - Provides highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting
• ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass - Developed by Nikon, this is a proprietary optical glass that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations
• Fluorine Coat - For withstanding the elements, Nikon's fluorine coat effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt, ensuring easy removal even when they adhere to the lens surface. It endures a high frequency of lens surface wiping, plus it has an anti-reflective effect that also helps enhance the capture of clear images
• Nano Crystal Coat - Developed by Nikon, this is an anti-reflective coating that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide variety of wavelengths in ways that far exceed the limits of conventional antireflection coating systems. This not only solves ghost effects caused by red light, which has been incredibly difficult for previous systems, but also effectively reduces ghost and flare effects caused by light entering the lens diagonally. This also contributes to clearer images
