Ibanez presents a signature model from AZ line of one of Ibanez legends, Andy Timmons: the ATZ100. It's based upon the Ibanez AZ Prestige series models and includes all of their advantages, plus bring forth new features that are favored by Andy and not yet offered in the AZ format.
It comes with a the one-piece Maple neck fashioned from S-TECH wood, an AZ staple, which is processed with a special nitrogen-heat treatment. What this process does is increase the wood’s stability, durability, water resistance and temperature change tolerance. The guitar's neck has an oil finish sealer coat which gives it a feel similar to a well-played neck. The width of the fretboard measures 40.5mm at the nut, slightly thinner than the Prestige AZ, with a grip shape that is also slightly thicker, mirroring Andy’s legendary AT guitar.
The guitar has a shallow body back contour and big forearm contour that help its body fit the player more naturally, thus adding to playing comfort. The body has a deep waist and varying radii on each body edge curve (radii of 3mm on body top/8mm on body back), so it's easier to play both standing and sitting.
DiMarzio® The Cruiser® pickups – Andy’s favorite – are installed in all positions. The combination of these pickups deliver single-coil tone, open vocal-sounding mids and add a bit of strength to the bass. These pickups also relieve players of string drop-outs and sustain-killing magnet pull. The instrument also includes the Smooth Taper volume filter, maintaining the guitar’s high frequencies at low volumes as well as providing more uniform tone at all levels from 1 to 10.
The Wilkinson®-Gotoh® VSVG tremolo unit offers smooth arm action and its unique elongated baseplate screw hole design helps promote accurate pitch return through the elimination of binding. Its locking bent-steel saddles bring forth a vintage tone and feel. The string mounting holes in the steel block are staggered in order to help keep consistent string angle over the saddles, which helps increase tuning stability.
GOTOH® MAGNUM LOCK® machine heads, having an established reputation for tuning stability, are mounted on the headstock. Its H. A. P®. (Height Adjustable Post) system enables the adjustment of string post height to achieve the appropriate tension and string angle individually for each string. Additionally, a hardshell case included.
