Audio-Technica U891RCb Cardioid Condenser Boundary Mic with Local or Remote Control

The U891RCb from Audio-Technica is a wide-range condenser microphone equipped with an interchangeable cardioid polar pattern pickup element and local or remote control switching options. A phantom-powered unit, it features local control onboard, or for enhanced control in conference and boardroom installations, an external contact closure capability that allows a user to trigger an external device – a camera, for instance – from the mic’s user switch. A touch-sensitive, capacitive-type user switch allows for easy switching among 3 common user operating modes: touch-on/touch-off, press to talk, and press-to-mute. This phantom-powered mic reinforces sound with a sophisticated 80 Hz low-cut UniSteep® filter for reduced pickup of low-frequency (LF) ambient noise, UniGuard® for protection from radio frequency interference (RFI), interchangeable mic pickup elements to provide for hypercardioid and omnidirectional polar patterns (additional elements sold separately) and a PivotPoint® rotating connector offering easy cable management with no tools required. Durable and discreet, the die-case case houses self-contained electronics which eliminate the need for an external power module, all within a low-profile design. Its heavy die-cast case and silicon foam bottom pads minimize surface vibration coupling to the microphone, while threaded inserts on the mic's bottom allow it to be mounted with screws for increased security.
