A little premature for a review on this thing as I haven't recorded with it yet. The DAC, however, is better than anything I've had in my home studio over the years. Better transients, tighter, stronger bass, just sweet sounding. Reproduces the goose bumps. I had a few dropped connections with it (Lenovo P52 with Thunderbolt Dock through a 16 port hub to the M4, so a less-than ideal setup) - A thunderbolt firmware updated on the laptop seemed to resolve that issue.

I bought this to record my acoustic piano in my home to an iPad I ten would transfer to my workstation in my studio (Digital Performer). I got a powered usb hub to power the Motu and an Apple camera adapter to connect to IPad. Bottom line, the Motu worked flawlessly with pristine sound, I recorded into GarageBand for IOS, and converted files to WAV files for my workstation Highly recommended.

The m4 sounds great. No issues with that. The problem is, although it never mentions CueMix in the description, I wrongly assumed that all motu products would have CueMix functions, and for my purposes, I needed DSP. Had to return the m4 despite absolutely loving it, especially it's metering. I think its descriptions on sale pages aught to specify no CueMix support, as in retrospect, I've actually seen a few people have this issue with m2/m4 product lines.
