Product Overview

At its essence, the 4560 Binaural Headset Microphone from DPA is made up of a pair of 4060 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphones mounted on 2 earhooks (as known from the 4266 Flex type of headset). The mics are a stereo pair; two handpicked 4060s, chosen for sensitivity within ±1.5 dB. The actual headset comes ergonomically designed for a comfortable, easy fit. It's adjustable to fit any ear size and head shape while at the same time securely mounted and hardly visible. Supplied with the mics are foam windscreens to secure the in-ear position and offer some wind noise damping.

The microphones feature an exceptionally accurate omnidirectional pickup pattern and therefore do not need to be directly aimed at the sound source to achieve quality capture, plus this pattern also makes it less sensitive to handling noise as well as pop and wind noise. They'll handle sound pressure levels (SPL) up to 134 dB before clipping may occur. They're well-suited for situations where the sound source is more remote or damped, and you need a good balance of signal versus noise.

Additionally, it comes with MicroDot termination, enabling use with a variety of wired and wireless systems based upon the chosen mic adapter (sold separately)

About Binaural Recording

A technique that employs 2 discrete microphones to create an immersive 3D stereo sound experience for the listener. When correctly achieved, these recordings allow the listener to experience sounds like they are actually in the same position as the person who performed the actual recording.

Binaural recordings differ from more well-known and conventional stereo techniques because binaural uses 2 omnidirectional mics positioned closely together (yet isolated from each other due to the recorder's head, simulating a listener's ears) to replicate the sound pick up of the human ear as close as possible. Stereo, on the other hand, uses microphones that can be positioned with varying amounts of space between them.

Adapter system gives you flexibility

Available adapters for a range of wireless systems provide you with versatile, simple and affordable choices when working with MicroDot termination and an adapter (adapters sold separately). No longer are you bound to one wireless system. As circumstances change, you can just switch your adapter, instead of incurring the cost of a completely new microphone. When you make the switch, you won't hear any loss or change in sound quality.

DPA's miniature mics work with all leading wireless mic solutions, such as Lectrosonics, Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, Wisycom, Zaxcom, and many more. DPA Microphones’ ingenious adapter system is one of a kind in the industry. It protects your investment in fantastic sound for years to come. Contact your Sales Pro for further details.
