Product Overview
RME’s unique and ultra-compact Fireface UCX II is an advanced USB audio interface that packs incredible power into a half-rack space.
The Fireface UCX II is capable of transmitting analog and digital audio data directly to Mac and Windows computers and, using the latest plug-and-play technology, allows easy installation, even to the inexperienced user. It provides multiple features such as an integrated routing solution and a well-designed settings menu to enable comfortable, quick and efficient operation. The unit is equipped with two mic/line preamps with XLR/1/4” combo inputs, two digitally controlled line/instrument inputs, and a headphone jack on the front panel. Alongside the inputs are various control buttons, a display, and the main volume control knob. The rear panel contains a set of ten analog balanced line inputs and outputs, ADAT I/O, MIDI I/O, AES/EBU and SPDIF I/O, plus USB 2.0 and a switchable word clock I/O.
Configuration and setting changes are easy using the well-thought-out menu, high-resolution display, four control keys, and encoder. Internal memory provides permanent storage of six different configuration states. The Fireface UCX II can operate as a full standalone unit without the need to connect to a computer and can transform into totally different devices with the click of a button.
Direct USB recording of all inputs and outputs to USB memory devices via the rear USB port is enabled by DURec, an integrated digital recorder. The recording function is provided by the internal DSP and is independent from connections to a Mac or Windows computer. It converts the Fireface UCX II into a standalone field recorder and multi-channel live player for previous recordings to use for virtual sound checks.
