3Dio FS-PRO-II Free Space Pro II Binaural Microphone

Taking the original Free Space binaural microphone a step further, the FS Pro II comes with matched DPA 4060 capsules in the ear canals. The extremely low noise floor of the 4060's translates to strikingly open binaural reality, especially during delicate passages. Designed for high-end professional and studio use the Free Space Pro II also shines for field recording.

3DIO's Free Space Pro II microphone has a pair of omnidirectional microphone capsules that pickup sound via two silicone ears. The 3DIO ears detect and direct sound the way our ears do helping to pinpoint the location of a sound. To gain full advantage of true binaural recording the listener must use headphones because stereo speakers can't reproduce the detailed directionality.

Free Space Pro II has also added support for phantom power. This allows the microphones to be powered using the 48V supply from a pre-amp, recorder, or mixing console. A 9V alkaline battery can also be used to provide power to the microphone capsules for over 300 hours of recording. The phantom power works regardless of the state of the 9V battery.

Free Space Pro II mounts easily on a microphone stand with the included 1/4"-20 to 5/8" or you can hot-shoe mount it using the 1/4"-20 female threaded mount hole on the bottom of the microphone. And when you're finished, just put Free Space in its molded case, and you're off to the next location, safe and sound.
