Tascam's PORTACAPTURE-X8 high-resolution portable recorder with touchscreen puts a mobile recording studio in the palm of your hand. In 1979 Tascam set the standard for high-quality portable recording with the Portastudio 144. They've never looked back.

The PORTACAPTURE-X8 is a hi-res multi-track handheld portable recorder designed for today's 24/7 content capture. Familiar app-like operation and legendary Tascam audio quality are fused with cutting-edge functionality allowing creators to simply create. The PORTACAPTURE-X8's Launcher system employs a gorgeous full-color 3.5" touch panel that provides intuitive navigation for setting, saving, and updating settings. Six presets designed around common recording scenarios let you dive into creating without sifting through complicated menus and settings to get started.

Atop the recorder sits a pair of detachable large-format condenser mics for A-B or X-Y coincident recording in addition, four side panel XLR/TRS combo jacks offering up to six simultaneous inputs. You can also record a stereo mix for a total of eight recorded tracks. All inputs are passed through Tascam's pristine HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) mic preamps and then handed off to the built-in converters that support up to 192kHz/32-bit floating point capture. With 32-bit float capability, you can deliver high gain low-noise audio from recordings at almost any input level.

The recorder is equipped with onboard processing, including compression, limiting, reverb, and more to ensure a high production value with minimal effort. Thanks to side panel 3.5mm camera jacks, audio can be sent to or received from external sources like cameras or wireless devices, providing maximum flexibility in the field.

You can monitor the proceedings via a 3.5mm headphone out or the built-in speaker.

Familiar recording functions like punch-in/out, auto record, and pre-roll are supported in the recording app. It's almost like having a Portastudio in the palm of your hand. Other various in-app features include sound effects, dynamics presets, specific instrument presets, and more. The PORTACAPTURE-X8 can be powered by 4 AA batteries, USB bus power, or the PS-P520U AC adapter (sold separately). Supported recording media includes micro SD, micro SDHC, and micro SDXC (up to 512GB) recording media, offering wide compatibility.
