The DPA ST2015 is a set of Stereo Pair Cardioid microphones.
The 2015 Compact Wide Cardioid microphone is an ideal choice for live situations where a conventional cardioid pattern simply doesn't provide enough coverage. This microphone is particularly effective when used in overhead pairs to capture a balanced sound of an entire group of instruments, such as a drum kit. Additionally, when recording instrument groups with complex radiation patterns, the wide cardioid design provides excellent coverage over a greater sound angle.
Constructed to withstand rough handling in live sound applications, the 2015 features a thicker, more robust body construction made of brass (known for its corrosion resistance and tolerance against metal fatigue). The mic handle and grille surfaces are also treated with a protective black chrome finish, ensuring your equipment ages gracefully for its entire lifespan.
The 2015 boasts a wide cardioid capsule with DPA's renowned flat off-axis response, giving the flexibility of high gain-before-feedback and effectively managing bleed from other instruments at close proximity. This microphone picks up off-axis sounds in a natural and attenuated manner. The 2015 can be positioned closer to the drum kit than traditional overhead microphones, minimizing bleed from the stage while still capturing even sound across the entire drum kit.

The microphones sound amazing and as a stereo pair, the frequency and sensitivity matching is perfect. I use them over an orchestra, wide A/B and it has never sounded more naturalistic. I’m not a big fan of the package as I have to take the microphones apart from the holder each time I put it back in the box..
