The Artistic MicPre Plus is a groundbreaking preamp featuring a revolutionary tube-type distortion circuit with variable color control, allowing adjustments from subtle warmth to pronounced distortion, mimicking the behavior of tube gear. Oh, the creative possibilities. It's easily disabled when not desired by turning the Color knob fully counterclockwise. The heartbeat of the MicPre Plus is the OPA2 discrete audio operational amplifier, a proprietary SMT (surface mount technology) design with matched dual input transistors. The components are field-replaceable without tools and compatible with many industry-standard pin-outs. The sound is further enhanced by an American-made steel-core output transformer, delivering a smooth vintage tone. The preamp includes a 2 MOhms high impedance direct input on the front panel, auto-switching rear microphone input, up to 65 dB gain, 20 dB Pad, switchable polarity, selectable input impedance, Phantom-Power support, and output level indicators.
