Fredenstein F609-TUBE-MICPRE 500 Series Tube Microphone Preamp

The Fredenstein F609 500-Series Tube Preamp utilizes high-quality American-made input and output transformers. Its key feature is the combination of an Input Gain knob (0 to +70 dB) and Output Gain knob, along with an all-tube signal path. The output level control allows for adjusting the amp's character, capable of pushing the first stages into genuine old-school tube distortion.

Particularly compelling when paired with the F602 tube compressor for vintage tones, the F609 also complements setups with the Artistic Compressor and Artistic Leveller for a blend of tube mic-pre and solid-state or optical compression chains reminiscent of the 1970s. Engineers often chain all three units for enhanced versatility.

Additional features include a 20 dB Pad, polarity control, phantom power, a two-stage low-cut filter, and a standby mode for tube preservation when not in use. The preamp includes a traditional VU meter as standard. While not all racks can supply the required 250 mA, the Fredenstein F609 is compatible with the Bento series, known for sufficient power delivery.
