You can with Ircam HEar. Dive into a faithful reproduction of a stereo or full surround mix with up to 16 channels, including Dolby Atmos®, using a pair of conventional stereo headphones. It leverages proven technology to model the phenomena that occur when we hear audio through a loudspeaker system. Supporting up to 16 channels with Channel-Based Virtualization and Pro Tools HD 7.1.2 & 7.0.2 Dolby Atmos® Bus Support, Ircam HEar offers space presets to present a range of spaces with subtle colorations. Binaural technology in Ircam HEar encompasses methods for recording, processing, synthesizing, and reproducing sound designed to preserve tridimensional localization properties. Mimicking the impression of sound from a specific incidence, it filters a mono signal with both left and right HRTF filters, forming the basis of binaural synthesis. You can't experience the magic on a conventional system, only through headphones. An integrated routing matrix provides an overview of the mapping between the plugin’s inputs from the DAW track to the virtual speaker outputs, with a speaker mode to specify the virtual speaker configuration to be emulated.
