The Tines & Echoes sample library captures the haunting sound of a hand-built pentagonal sound box created by renowned instrument designer Bart Hopkin. The instrument features 25 chromatically tuned metal tines, each with a pair of sympathetic strings spanning the soundboard. The unique tuning of the sympathetic strings produces a mesmerizing effect, creating vibrations that resonate through different string combinations bound to other tines. Plucking the tines creates a sharp, crisp water-drop note that reverberates through the sympathetic strings, producing a soft, ghostly ring. Tine plucks and percussive hand slaps on the instrument body have been captured with two stereo mic positions to deliver an optimal sound experience.
